Pivotal moments and why I decided to coach
I thought about selling my office for years but didn’t know if that was the solution. I tried therapy, yoga, more vacations, changing my schedule, and being coached on mindset. All of it helped, but that nagging voice was still there.
The pivotal moment when I decided to change:
After a minor health scare, I decided that I would live my life as if I had 5 years left to live.
This gave me the courage to sell my office, move, and start over. Since then I have dove deep and far trying to understand myself. Initially, I was focusing on “fixing” myself. Why didn’t I love my practice? Why wasn’t I happy with what I had? Why did I feel trapped? Why did I feel so stuck in my head?
Through personal exploration and extensive coursework, I now know several truths:
We are not broken. We can be guided into greater depth and understanding with ourselves, but we do not need to be fixed.
Knowing who we are (strengths, values, neurodiversity) is incredibly important and a key step I missed early on. There is immense value in owning your strengths, strategizing to get help on areas that are not your strong suits, and creating a lifestyle that honors these truths.
Our world is rushed and productivity-driven. A key piece that was missing was learning how to slow down and drop back into my body…to learn to feel stillness inside instead of a constant state of chaos.
I am neurodiverse (on the ADHD spectrum) and this is greatly underdiagnosed in high-achieving women. When we understand and own our neurodiversity, we can strategize environments where we will thrive.
There is not a one-size-fits-all answer for whether someone should change their career. It is deeply individual. No one can tell you the answer. The answers lie within.
Why coaching?
My coaching practice developed from curiosity, flow, and love. My strengths include connection and creativity, and I LOVE talking to people. It feels easy and magical. As I followed my interests, I allowed myself to do this for my soul, and to help others discover their inner light.
